GOVERNOR LALONG INSPECTS LEGACY PROJECTS, INSISTS ON QUALITY WORK AND TIMELY COMPLETION
Governor Simon Bako Lalong who as part of his promise to the good people of plateau state to revive and bring up a legacy project to build and up lift the standard of school and put up the modern facilities and good structures as part of his legacy project is no dought but on cause as he took his time to see for himself the stage and the progress of the project he took a tour of all the legacy projects and see the level of work so far,
Governor Lalong who said that his second term in office is to consolidate on his achievements and the 3 pillar policies of his administration will leave no stone on turn and zero tolerance for none performing contractors,
Plateau State Governor Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has inspected some of the on-going Legacy Projects and rehabilitation of township roads in the State to ascertain the level of work and also ensure timely completion and quality work.
Governor Lalong began his inspection at the Lamingo Pilot Primary School in Jos North Local Government Area where he was taken round by the Site Manager, Paul Barde who explained that the work has progressed up to 70 percent.
He said the construction firm was making steady progress in the work as most of the class rooms will soon be completed to pave way for furnishing of the school which has a capacity for about 500 pupils.
The Governor who went round the project with the Secretary to the Government of the State Prof. Danladi Atu, Some Commissioners and other top Government officials, said that the Lamingo Pilot Primary School which is one the Legacy Projects was meant to provide quality education for children of the poor who cannot afford private schools.
He said “we have vowed that we cannot fail to make quality education available to the children of the poor and under-privileged because our administration believes in taking care of everyone particularly the weak and vulnerable. When this school is completed, the standards will be so high and condition of learning so suitable that many will prefer to bring their children here than to take them to private schools”
Lalong also reminded the contractors of his directive that all public institutions particularly schools be made friendly for physically challenged persons because his administration’s belief in inclusivity being one of the first States to enact the Disability Law and also establish the Disability Rights Commission manned by physically challenged persons.
The Governor thereafter proceeded to Barkin Ladi to inspect work on the 200–Bed capacity General Hospital where he was equally taken round by the Site Manager.
He was told that the work has also gone up to 60 percent with the Residency Quarters, Wards and other structures nearing completion.
The contractor assured the Governor that by March, the project will be completed as funds are released on time, as the workers are very committed to the project.
The Governor in his response said “the Hospital when completed will solve the health needs of people of this Local Government and the neigbouring ones because it will be world standard and equipped with the state of the art facilities. We inherited many projects that we completed and we initiated others that are on-going. We have therefore selected some of them as Legacy Projects spread all over the State including this one. Whatever is working elsewhere in the world whether in education or health, we want to replicate it here on the Plateau for the benefit of our people”.
He promised to come back in February to monitor the progress of work preparatory to its commissioning, adding that he was satisfied with the quality of work at the moment.
Governor Lalong also inspected on-going operation zero potholes rehabilitation of township roads with a visit to the Rayfiled-Zarmaganda road where he urged the contractor to deliver quality work and within stipulated time to reduce inconveniences to motorists and residents of the area.
